Finally RAIN – a blessing for my Organic Garden
After October being such a dry month here in South Australia – well, it’s just wonderful to feel some water fall from the sky onto my face. I woke up this morning, looked out the window only to find numerous little snails making their way up my window.
I was a bit concerned that most of them may have been munching their way through my lush green vegetables. But when I went out to see, there really wasn’t much sign of them in the veggie patch at all. In fact the garden looked absolutely refreshed from the rain. But we really didn’t have very much rain at all. More is forecast though.
My organic vegetable garden plot is about 7 weeks old now ( I started planting seedlings – and seeds – round the middle of September). When I plant out seedlings I always include a handful of organic fertilizer. Yesterday I placed a side dressing of “Complete D” around all the original seedlings, so the rain has been a real blessing. You must always water in well any fertilizers. Plus the rain adds minerals from the air – an added bonus. The plants are looking very happy today. And so am I – I’m getting married tomorrow! So I won’t be posting again until sometime next week.
Remember to enjoy and be grateful for your organic garden.
