Expanding My Organic Garden

Today hubby and I went and picked up our first poly-tunnel – it’s very exciting! Well it’s five actually, but we’ll only be using one to start with. We’ve only got the frames so far, because we bought them second hand – picked up a real bargain.

It was really hot to be collecting them today, but worth it.

My understanding is that the plastic only lasts three or four years, so we’ll need to get new plastic in the near future to go on our frame. We’re only setting up one of the tunnels as we plan to move to some acreage towards the end of this year.

We’ll be using it to grow some vegetables that need warmer temperatures through winter and protection from frosts. I’m also propagating herbs to sell at our local farm produce market, so the warmth of the poly-tunnel during winter will help grow my herbs faster. I’ll have pics here when we’ve set it up.
