Organic Gardening Cleanliness

Finally, a day under 35 degrees. So I’ve been out removing finished plants. I’ve just pulled out my first block of corn. And the broccoli was starting to flower, so they’ve come out too…. plus a few straggly looking beans.

This has cleared the way for some fresh plantings. I’ll add some “complete D” to the area first, then I’ll be putting in more lettuce, spring onions, radish and carrots (all from seed). These plants are all good companions – so will grow healthier and produce better yields for being grown close to each other.

Keeping your organic garden tidy is a good gardening practice. You’ll reduce the amount of pests and disease by pulling out your spent plants. If you have chooks like I do they’ll love your waste from the garden. Otherwise you can add it to your compost heap. Either way, you’re reducing the stress on the environment AND you’ll get back eggs, fertilizer and / or compost – what a great system!

Happy Organic Gardening,

Julie
