Surplus produce from my Organic Garden

It’s that time of year when there is an abundance of produce from the garden (as you can see from the tomatoes in pics below). So what do you do with it all? Mostly I find a way to use it. I preserve some things, sun dry others, make delicious home-made soups and there’s […]

Home-made Organic Tomato Sauce

Hi there,
here’s the pics from my sauce making. Usually I’d use bigger tomatoes, but my saucing tomatoes didn’t do so well this year. I didn’t have room to plant them in the improved raised bed, so they ended up in very sandy soil.
So I picked about 70% of my ripe Tommy Toes and turned them […]

So many tomatoes!

Wow, it always thrills me when I see how much produce can come from such a small area! If you’re thinking about organic gardening and don’t know where to start, check out my e-book “Organic Food Gardening for Beginners“.
I picked a heap of my small tomatoes yesterday. Mostly they are “Tommy Toe”, but some are […]

More seeds in my Organic Garden

OK, we’ve hit mid-summer now. I’ve made space for the next succession of lettuce (2 types), spring onions, carrots and radish. By planting at monthly intervals, it means we’ll be enjoying harvesting my organic garden for much longer than if I’d just planted a main crop and left it at that.
The very hot weather we’ve […]

Organic Gardening Cleanliness

Finally, a day under 35 degrees. So I’ve been out removing finished plants. I’ve just pulled out my first block of corn. And the broccoli was starting to flower, so they’ve come out too…. plus a few straggly looking beans.
This has cleared the way for some fresh plantings. I’ll add some “complete D” to the […]

Produce from my Organic Garden

OK… finally took some time to get my husband to take a few photos of some of the produce from my organic vegetable garden. We’ve had a couple of cooler days, but the earth is parched. The garden only survives because of the irrigation system. Take a look at our harvest.

I grew blackjack […]

Abundance in my vegetable garden, despite the heat.

It’s still pretty hot here. The forecast is for 38C / 100F tomorrow and 42C / 107F on Thursday. Hopefully my vegetable garden will cope and continue with the abundance that’s starting to flow now. (pics in a few days).
We’ve got soooooo many zucchinis - I swear they are only pencil size in the evening […]

Keeping up the water in my Organic Garden through extreme hot weather

WOW!!! It’s 2008 already! So HAPPY NEW YEAR!
And it’s sooooo hot here in South Australia. Today is our third day in a row over 40C / 104F. It’s extreme days like this that I’m really happy that I plant my veggies close together and mulch. Even with these measures I have to water every […]
